collisionwork: (moni)
I just spent four hours writing a very nice essay here on Terrence Malick's The New World, perfect moments in film, and MTV's 25th anniversary.

My browser crashed and I lost all but the first half-hour of work, just as I finished and was proofreading.

I didn't save it elsewhere because I wasn't expecting to write something that long, formatting gets screwy if I transfer text from Word to LiveJournal, and Live Journal saves drafts every few minutes, so I thought I'd be safe.  For some reason, it didn't save all of what I wrote.

If anyone has any ideas about possible ways of recovering it, let me know.  I think it's gone, but I'd like to try to get back an essay that was a surprise to me and that I was happy with, and which I don't think I can replicate with the same energy and inspiration, if there's any way.

Maybe I'll finish it again someday, but now I have to get back in the mood to write again as I'm supposed to have something up here tomorrow as part of Girish's Avant-Garde Blog-a-Rama.

I'm really not in the mood to try and write more now.

Damn.
