I didn't like Shout at all the first few times I heard it, and basically thought the only worthwhile moments were "Are You Experienced" and "4th Dimension." I grew to like the title track after seeing them live in '88, when they did a kickass medley of it with "Disco Dancer" and Sondheim/Bernstein's "Somewhere" (!) for their encore.
I wound up liking Shout, the album, more due to shuffle play, on CDs first, before any MP3 players. It's not a great album to sit through beginning to end, but most of the songs stand out if they come up on their own, between other songs by other bands.
