Sparks is a FANTASTIC band. They definitely have a (totally unjustified) reputation for being difficult to enjoy, but it's bogus. Their new music is--well, you've heard some of it--it's definitely arty post-rock material, which I really enjoy, but they've been at the vanguard of everything from power pop to glam rock to disco/electronica to punky new wave to...whatever it is they're doing now. Super-smart, super-melodic and catchy...ah, how I love them. I highly recommend basically all their 70s albums, plus No. 1 In Heaven, Whomp That Sucker and Angst In My Pants, and the new one of course.
The video's priceless, but oddly enough I never really liked the "Cool Places" song that much--even though I love Jane and have squeed at her every three-second screen appearance, from Clue to Star Trek IV to... um, Clue.
