I was originally going to post three videos today of different versions of Tim Buckley's beautiful "Song to the Siren," as performed by Buckley, This Mortal Coil, and T.N. Gregory, but the copyright holders of the song have had Buckley's version taken off YouTube, and the post doesn't work for me without it.
Then I considered posting a mixed bag of silly things I'd found on YouTube.
Then I looked up at the date and time, and remembered where I was exactly six years ago as I was looking (9.06 am).
I was going to go with the silly stuff, in my continuing attempt to ignore anniversaries of this day (which has, indeed, remained an attempt). But
toddalcott posted this short trailer for Naomi Klein's book, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism (in a post correctly titled "Well, this is certainly worth a look"), created by Klein, filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron, and his son Jonas Cuaron. Nothing new here, really, I guess, but some of the specifics and connections here focus the argument, and made me feel like sharing it as well:
I'll be back later with the silly stuff.
