That said, now that I look at everyone else's calm, reasoned responses, I'm glad I bothered to put the fury out there -- I was of two minds about it, and regretted it the moment I posted it. But, looking over other reactions now, I'm glad I chose the less-reasonable course for once.

You were also apparently two years behind me at Tisch (I was in film, I assume you were in theatre, but I could be wrong, as I've moved from film to theatre myself).

...You know, I wonder if NYU's a possibility...did you know anyone named "Krishna", at all?

I looked up Reverie, and basically, you and I have ten million people one step in between us...

Colin, the Reverie AD, did something at NADA in '94, I think. Jeep Thieves was before my time -- I didn't join Reverie until 2002. I've worked at The Metropolitan Playhouse before then and still do today -- and the people I know there have extensive connections to The Pearl.

I'm on a sort of theater hiatus for the nonce (2 solid years of stage managing and a day job made me need a break, plus I'm moving soon), so I'm not talking much about theater; but I am on the nytheatre.com review squad, so I may have some things to say soon. I will friend back, as I'm sure starting some stage managing again soon will yield their own posts of interest (I've commented on John Clancy's blog once or twice with the perspective of an Equity SM).

It occurs to me that one does not labor in off-off for a decade plus if idealism and love aren't feeding the beast.

Persist in thy folly. I promise that the reward, even if it takes years, will arrive and if we're lucky, really lucky, the reward will be more profound than any profit or notoriety.

I guess I get angriest about something like this because I have indeed poured so much love and devotion and honor and trust into my work, and to have someone WHO DOESN'T KNOW insult it . . .

It is indeed the only thing that makes life worthwhile, this work, and it rewards me for my faith in it every day.
