Meanwhile . . .
Apr. 15th, 2006 09:55 amWoke up, fell out of bed . . . realized there wasn't any damned coffee in the house, so I skipped dragging a comb across my head and got the necessary aromatic powder from the deli next door.
Checking in, I found that Caveman Robot got slammed by George Hunka in the Times, which I anticipated, so, no big whoop (I was one of two actors singled out for praise, though). Matt Freeman made a spirited defense of The Brick on his blog, feeling that George's review was over-the-top in slamming a positive theatrical force such as The Brick, even if the show might be as bad as George says, but I had to respond to say that George's review, though negative, was fair. We get the truly nasty reviews from other quarters at The Brick. George slammed the show, not the space.
Wish I knew enough at this point to make the appropriate text above into links to the relevant pages, but I'm new at this, and haven't had the time to learn how to do it. Maybe I'll take the time tomorrow. The day off.
So it's another day of not feeling able to get much accomplished as it's just waiting around to go to the theatre for call time.
I want to start work on my new show, That's What We're Here For (an american pageant). There's nothing more I can do until rehearsal on April 23. I am frustrated. As I guess the little ferret-thing below will surely indicate.
I wish I hadn't lost an actor. The balance seems all off to me. I've asked every actor I trust enough to be in this show, there are no others. I live with what I have.
And I've realized that I must play the Narrator-figure myself. Fine.
